A Night Under the Lights: An interview with Former Blues Captain, David backes
Welcome back, hockey fans! Tonight, we have a special guest joining us, a man who knows a thing or two about leading the Blues to victory – former captain, David backes! David, thanks for joining us!
It’s a pleasure to be here. That outdoor game against the Blackhawks certainly brought back some memories.
Absolutely! what were your initial thoughts watching the Blues dominate like that, especially in such a historic setting?
I was incredibly impressed. The atmosphere of an outdoor game is electric, and it seemed to energize
the Blues right from the start.Scoring early with Fowler,a true warrior who’s played with heart and grit for so many years, was a fantastic start.
Speaking of the veteran defenseman, what did you think of Fowler’s performance scoring two goals in his 1000th game? What a way to celebrate a milestone!
Sierra hotel, as we say in the military! That’s the kind of storybook moment that makes this sport so special.fowler’s been a rock on the Blues blueline for years, and to see him have that kind of impact on such a special night was truly something else.
The offense was firing on all cylinders too, with Kyrou setting a new record for points in an outdoor game. Do you think this performance could be a turning point for him?
I certainly hope so. Kyrou has all the talent in the world. He’s got speed, skill, and a knack for finding the back of the net. If he can maintain this level of consistency, he’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the league for years to come.
The Blackhawks put up a fight, but the Blues seemed to control the game. What do you think were the key factors in their victory?
That early power-play goal by Fowler set the tone. It gave the blues momentum they carried throughout the game. Plus,Binnington was a wall in net! He made some huge saves, especially that breakaway stop on hall. When your goalie is playing like that, it gives the whole team confidence.
Let’s talk about the outdoor atmosphere. What’s it like playing under the lights with thousands of fans packed into a stadium?
It’s an indescribable experience.
The energy is through the roof.
It’s almost like playing in a playoff game, but even more intense. The fans, the lights, the cold—it all comes together to create an unforgettable moment.
Now, John, I have to ask, do you think the Blues can keep this momentum going? can they be Stanley Cup contenders this year?
They have the talent, but the Central Division is tough. Every night is a battle. If they can stay healthy and continue to play like they did against the Blackhawks, anything is possible.
