Badminton Information Hubs Transitioning too New Platforms
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) is streamlining its online presence, consolidating information currently hosted on two dedicated tournament software websites. As of January 7, 2025, bwf.toernooisoftware.com adn bwfpara.toernooisoftware.com will be retired.
This transition aims to centralize badminton data and enhance accessibility for fans and players alike.
Where to Find Badminton Information After January 7, 2025:
bwfbadminton.com: This website will serve as the primary hub for all BWF-related information, including tournament schedules, results, rankings, and player profiles.
Badminton4U App: The official BWF fan app, Badminton4U, will also provide thorough coverage of tournaments, live scores, and news updates.
Continental Confederations: For Grade 3 tournaments, regional information will continue to be available on the websites of respective Continental confederations.
Crucial Note for BWF Member Associations:
The backend tournament software system, bwf.tournamentsoftware.com, will remain operational for BWF Member associations. This platform will continue to facilitate:
Registration of new players
Tournament sanctioning processes
Registration of players for sanctioned tournaments
The BWF is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will provide regular updates in the coming months. For any questions regarding the closure of the existing websites, please contact Leon Tolner, Head of Digital technology, at [email protected].
A smashing Transition: Badminton’s Digital Future Takes Center Court
Welcome, badminton fans and enthusiasts! Today, we delve into a significant change sweeping across the badminton world – the Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) decision to consolidate its online presence. Joining me to discuss this exciting development is none other than Carolina Marin, three-time World Badminton Champion and Olympic gold medalist. Welcome, Carolina!
Carolina: Thank you for having me. I’m eager to talk about this!
Moderator: Now, Carolina, as a player deeply connected to the sport, what are your initial thoughts on the BWF retiring its dedicated tournament software websites, bwf.toernooisoftware.com and bwfpara.toernooisoftware.com, on January 7, 2025?
carolina: It’s a bold move, and I understand why the BWF is making this decision. Consolidating data into one central hub – bwfbadminton.com – streamlines access for everyone, from fans to players like myself. Less clicking around, more time focusing on the game, right?
Moderator: Absolutely.
And the Badminton4U app will play a pivotal role in this transition as well, providing live scores and news updates. Do you see this app becoming an essential tool for both players and fans following the changes?
Carolina: Definitely. The Badminton4U app has always been a great resource, but this shift could make it even more indispensable. Imagine having everything – schedules, rankings, player profiles – all at your fingertips, on your phone. It’s a fantastic way to stay connected to the sport.
Moderator: I couldn’t agree more. However, some fans might have relied heavily on the older websites for specific tournament information, notably at the Grade 3 level.
Do you think the reliance on Continental Confederations’ websites for this data could create any potential fragmentation or inconsistency in accessibility?
Carolina: That’s a valid concern.
I hope the BWF takes steps to ensure seamless integration and consistency across all platforms, so fans across the globe can easily find the information thay need, irrespective of the tournament level.
Moderator: I’d love to hear your thoughts on the backend system’s continuity for BWF Member associations. The bwf.tournamentsoftware.com platform will remain operational for tasks like player registration and tournament sanctioning. Is this a reassuring sign for the badminton community on the administrative front?
Carolina: absolutely! It’s crucial that the administrative side of the sport remains stable and efficient. This decision shows that the BWF understands the importance of supporting its member associations, which are the backbone of badminton worldwide.
Moderator: Well said, Carolina.
So, as we wrap up, what’s your message to the badminton community – players, fans, organizers – as we approach this digital change?
Carolina: I’m excited about the future of badminton. This consolidation streamlines our online experience. While there might be initial adjustments, I believe it will ultimately benefit everyone. Stay engaged, embrace the change, and let’s keep the sport growing stronger together!
Moderator: Fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing your valuable insights,Carolina.
