Carmen Alto Expands Free sports Program for Youth
The Carmen Alto district is thrilled too announce an extension for its popular “Useful Vacation” program, opening up opportunities for even more children to engage in free sports activities. This initiative, made possible through a partnership with the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), aims to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among young residents.
A diverse range of sports workshops will be offered, including judo, basketball, volleyball, and soccer, catering to a variety of interests and skill levels. Daciano Chaccerica, deputy Manager of Social Health for the District Municipality of Carmen Alto, highlighted the positive impact of this collaboration with the IPD.
“Previously, each sport workshop could accommodate approximately 100 children,” Chaccerica explained. “Thanks to this agreement, we’ve significantly increased the number of available spots, allowing us to reach a wider audience.”
The program will utilize various district facilities to host the workshops. Soccer enthusiasts can head to the Cholo Sotil stadium, volleyball players can gather at the Carmen Alto covered terrace, basketball fans can shoot hoops at the Vista alegre terrace, and judo practitioners can train at the Mothers Club.
Registration for the “useful Vacation” program remains open until Friday, January 17th at the Social Progress office. Parents are encouraged to register their children promptly and ensure they bring appropriate attire, snacks, and a positive attitude.
With over 450 children already enrolled, the program is expected to see even greater participation thanks to the extended registration period and increased capacity. This commitment to providing accessible and engaging sports opportunities reflects Carmen Alto’s dedication to the well-being and development of its youth.
Keeping Kids Active: An Interview with Former Peruvian Volleyball Star, Gabriela Pérez
Carmen Alto’s “Useful Vacation” sports program has everyone talking, and I’m thrilled to welcome former Peruvian volleyball star, gabriela Pérez, to discuss its impact on the community. Gabriela, thanks for joining me.
Gabriela: It’s great to be here. Anything that gets kids active and involved in sports is fantastic!
Moderator: Absolutely. This program offers a wide range of sports, including judo, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. What do you think about the diversity of activities offered?
Gabriela: I think it’s fantastic. Offering diverse options is crucial. Not every child is naturally drawn to the same sport, and having choices allows them to explore and discover what thay truly enjoy. It also caters to different skill levels, which encourages participation.
Moderator: You make a great point about exploring different sports. And, speaking of participation, the program was expanded to accommodate more children this year. How crucial is accessibility to sports programs like this, particularly for underprivileged communities?
Gabriela: accessibility is paramount. Sports should be available to everyone, irrespective of their background or financial situation. Programs like this level the playing field, providing opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
Moderator: I couldn’t agree more. Now,the program utilizes various district facilities, including the Cholo Sotil stadium for soccer. Do you think utilizing existing community spaces is a smart approach?
Gabriela: I believe it’s incredibly resourceful. These facilities are already in place, and repurposing them for sports programs makes sense. It maximizes their use and avoids the need for building new, potentially expensive infrastructure.
Moderator: Excellent point.now, the registration period is open until January 17th. What advice would you give to parents considering enrolling their children?
Gabriela: Don’t hesitate! This is a wonderful prospect for children to engage in physical activity, learn teamwork, and develop valuable life skills. Sports can boost confidence, discipline, and overall well-being.
Moderator: Wise words, Gabriela. what are your thoughts on the program’s overall impact on Carmen Alto’s youth?
Gabriela: I believe it’s incredibly positive. It sets a fantastic example, promoting a healthy lifestyle and empowering the next generation. By investing in these children, Carmen Alto is investing in a brighter future.
