Dominican Table Tennis Stars Crowned at National Championship
The Parque del Este Pavilion witnessed thrilling competition as the Dominican Republic’s top table tennis athletes battled for supremacy at the National Superior table Tennis Championship. Esmerlyn Castro and Rafael Cabrera emerged victorious, claiming the coveted titles in their respective categories.
Castro,representing the San Pedro de Macorís Table Tennis Association,dominated the women’s division,securing a decisive 3-0 victory over Dafne Sosa in the final. Arianna Estrella and Nicol Guerrero, hailing from Santiago and San Pedro de Macorís respectively, shared the third-place honors.
In the men’s division, Rafael Cabrera, representing the National District, showcased his prowess, defeating Abit Tejada from the Santo Domingo province wiht a score of 3-1. Eduardo Darley and Yoel Mendoza, both from the National District and Santo Domingo province respectively, rounded out the top three.
This prestigious tournament, organized by the Dominican Table Tennis Federation (Fedoteme) with support from a consortium of organizations including the Dominican Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports, brought together the nation’s elite table tennis talent.
The victors, Castro and Cabrera, will be rewarded with an prospect to compete in a WTT event of Fedoteme’s choosing, with all expenses covered.
This championship marked the culmination of Fedoteme’s 2024 program, a year filled with successful initiatives aimed at promoting and developing table tennis across the Dominican Republic.
Looking ahead, Fedoteme President gary hernández emphasized the association’s commitment to preparing athletes for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games while continuing to nurture young talent and expand the sport’s reach.

Rafael: My personal ambition is to continue improving, becoming a dominant force in the international table tennis arena.
