Cavs Target Cam Johnson to Bolster 2025 NBA Title Run

The⁣ cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly ⁤eyeing Cam Johnson as a key addition to ⁢bolster their ‌roster for a potential 2025 NBA championship run. Sources‍ from The Athletic suggest that Johnson could be the ideal⁣ fit alongside stars like Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, Darius Garland, and Jarrett Allen, solidifying the team’s⁤ core.

Johnson, who previously played a pivotal role for the Phoenix Suns during their 2021 ⁣NBA Finals campaign, is now one of the most sought-after assets remaining on the market.⁣ The ‍Brooklyn Nets, who have‍ already parted ways with Dennis Schroeder and Dorian Finney-Smith in deals with the Warriors and Lakers, are open to offers for Johnson. This⁤ season, he has been averaging close to 20 points per game ⁢ while shooting an impressive 42% from beyond the arc, ‍making him a highly attractive target.

Johnson’s value ⁢is further amplified by his contract terms, which include $22.5‌ million for this season and a total of $42 ⁣million through 2027. The Cavaliers could ⁢possibly structure a deal by offering brooklyn the expiring $16 million contract of‍ Caris levert, along with⁤ reliable ⁤role ‌players like Dean Wade and‌ Isaac Okoro, and ‍possibly one or two future second-round draft picks. Though, absorbing the contract of Max Strus, who has two more ⁤seasons left at ⁣approximately $30 million, could ⁣pose a challenge for the ⁤Nets.

Among playoff-contending teams, only the oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, and Golden State warriors are in a position to present competitive offers for Johnson. The⁣ Warriors had previously explored ⁢a trade ⁢involving Johnson during the Schroeder negotiations ⁢but ultimately did not finalize a deal.
