From Badminton Court to Golf Green: Cecilie Finne-Ipsen Earns LET Spot
Cecilie Finne-Ipsen, the younger sister of renowned badminton player Julie Finne-Ipsen, has secured a coveted spot on the Ladies European Tour (LET) for 2025. This achievement marks a notable milestone in her golfing journey, one that began alongside her sister on the courts of Værløse Badminton.
While both sisters excelled in both sports during their youth, Julie ultimately chose badminton, while Cecilie pursued her passion for golf. This decision has now culminated in a professional career, fueled by a remarkable performance at the Q-school in Marrakech.
Entering the final round outside the top 20, Cecilie staged an impressive comeback, finishing in 8th place and securing a full LET card for 2025. This achievement surpasses her 45th place finish in the previous year’s Q-school, which granted her limited access to the tour.
“I’m still unsure about the exact number of tournaments I’ll be able to participate in, but it will definitely be more than this year,” Cecilie shared with golf.dk. “This improved access also brings financial stability, as I often faced uncertainty about which tour to play on or even if I could participate at all. This often led to last-minute ticket purchases, adding to the financial strain.”
The 2025 LET season kicks off on February 6th in Morocco.Simultaneously occurring, Cecilie’s sister, Julie, continues to make waves in the badminton world. Partnered with Mai Surrow, she is set to compete in the Malaysia Open next week, facing the top-seeded Chinese duo in the first round.
