The Chicago Bears have hired Matt Eberflus as their⁣ new​ head coach, the team announced Thursday. Eberflus, who was the defensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts, will ​replace Matt Nagy, who was fired after the 2021 season.

Eberflus, 51, has been the Colts’‍ defensive coordinator as 2018. He has⁤ helped the Colts become one of the top defenses in the NFL, ranking in the top 10 ⁤in total defense in each of the past three ​seasons.

The‍ Bears are hoping eberflus can turn around a team that ⁢has struggled‌ in recent ⁤years. The Bears have not made the⁤ playoffs since 2018 and ​have not won a playoff game since 2010.

Eberflus will be tasked with developing quarterback ‍Justin fields, who was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.‍ fields showed flashes of potential in his rookie season, but he also struggled at times.
