Welcome back, sports fans! today, I’m thrilled to have the unbelievable Agustina Talavera, reigning champion of the Castilla-La Mancha Indoor Archery Championship longbow senior female category, joining us. Agustina,congratulations on your amazing victory in Torrijos! What a nail-biting final round it must have been.
Agustina: Thank you so much! It was truly an exhilarating experience.There was immense pressure, but I tried to stay focused on my technique and trust my training.
You certainly did! Your precision was remarkable. For those unfamiliar with the sport, could you maybe describe the mental game of archery? It truly seems as though it requires an incredible amount of focus and composure.
Agustina: You hit the nail on the head. Archery is almost as much a mental sport as it is physical. Every shot requires intense concentration,blocking out distractions,and maintaining a steady hand and breath. Visualizing your success beforehand is also crucial.
Absolutely! Speaking of success, Jara Nieto, a fellow member of Club de Tiro Puertollano, also secured a fantastic runner-up position in the recurve junior female category. what’s it like training alongside such talented athletes?
Agustina: It’s incredibly motivating! We push each other to be our best and are always there to offer support and encouragement. Jara is an exceptional young archer with a bright future ahead of her.
The Club de Tiro Puertollano clearly has a strong archery program. What do you think contributes to their success?
Agustina: I believe it’s a combination of factors: dedicated coaches, top-notch facilities, and a supportive team environment.We have a passion for archery that runs deep within the club.
That’s inspiring to hear! Now, looking ahead, what are your goals for the upcoming season? Any plans to compete at a national or international level?
Agustina: I’m definitely aiming to compete at a higher level. The nationals are a primary focus, and hopefully, one day, I can represent Spain on the international stage. It’s a long road,but I’m committed to putting in the work.
