Oaxaca Gears Up for CONADE 2025: An Insider’s Perspective
Oaxaca is buzzing with anticipation as the state prepares to host the 2025 CONADE National Games. To delve deeper into the preparations and the impact of the upcoming event, we sat down with former Olympian and Oaxaca native, Maria Hernandez, a veteran track and field athlete who now coaches young athletes in the region.
Moderator: Maria, thanks for joining us. The CONADE Games are a major sporting event for Mexico. What does hosting the Games mean for Oaxaca?
maria Hernandez: Hosting the CONADE Games is a monumental chance for Oaxaca. It shines a spotlight on our state, showcasing our stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and – most importantly – the talent and dedication of our athletes. This event can inspire a new generation of athletes and ignite a passion for sports across the entire region.
Moderator: The article highlights some meaningful changes to categories and branches in several sports. What are your thoughts on this move towards inclusivity and broader participation?
Maria: I think its fantastic! Sports should be accessible to everyone. These adjustments ensure that athletes of all skill levels have a platform to compete and showcase their abilities. It’s about creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and has a chance to excel.
Moderator: The qualifying process seems extensive, with regional, macro-regional, and national stages. Do you see this multi-tiered system as beneficial or overly complex for young athletes?
Maria: It’s a double-edged sword. On the one hand, the tiered system allows athletes to gradually progress and gain experience at each level. It gradually exposes them to tougher competition, building skills and confidence along the way. On the other hand, it can be daunting for some young athletes, especially those without strong support systems. The key is to ensure proper guidance and support are available at every stage, encouraging athletes to persevere and strive for their goals.
Moderator: You mentioned the importance of support systems. Oaxaca has allocated a considerable budget for the Games. Do you believe these funds are enough to adequately support the thousands of athletes who will be participating?
Maria: It’s a good start, but I believe more can always be done. Oaxaca has a rich sporting heritage, and investing in our athletes is investing in the future. We need to ensure they have access to quality training facilities, specialized coaching, and nutritional support. This goes beyond just financial resources; it requires a collaborative effort from the government, private sector, and local communities.
Moderator: Looking ahead, what are your hopes and expectations for Oaxaca’s performance in the CONADE 2025 Games?
Maria: I have high hopes for our athletes! Oaxaca has a history of producing exceptional talent in sports like athletics, boxing, and wrestling. We have the potential to achieve great things if our athletes receive the necessary support and guidance. I believe these Games will be a testament to Oaxaca’s sporting spirit and will leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
