The TSV Lohr gymnasium witnessed another thrilling judo tournament, marking the 46th edition of this prestigious event. Over 20 teams from across southern Germany, including prominent Bundesliga clubs, descended upon the venue, creating an atmosphere of intense competition.
This year’s tournament saw a historic victory in the women’s division. The DJK Aschaffenburg team, showcasing remarkable skill and determination, clinched the championship title for the first time. In a closely contested final, they edged out PTSV Hof with a score of 3-2. Standout performers for Aschaffenburg included Svenja Becker, Annika krüger, and Lara Schurz, who proved instrumental in overcoming strong contenders like the Bundesliga club JC Bad Ems.
The men’s competition saw the offenbach/Frankfurt team dominate the field. They secured a decisive 5-0 victory over TG Rimbach in the final, demonstrating their superior technique and tactical prowess.
The host team,TSV Lohr,fielded a young and promising squad. While they didn’t reach the podium, they achieved a commendable seventh-place finish. Their victory over JC Frankfurt in the seventh-place match, secured by Anton Weidner, Rares Cumpanas, and Maksym bereziuk, highlighted their potential for future success.

we recently witnessed a thrilling tournament at the 46th TSV Lohr Judo Championships. The women’s division saw a stunning upset with DJK Aschaffenburg clinching thier first-ever championship title, defeating PTSV Hof in a nail-biting final. What are your thoughts on Aschaffenburg’s performance?
Wolfgang Schmidt: Absolutely incredible! Aschaffenburg showed incredible tenacity and skill throughout the tournament. They have been steadily improving over the past few years, but to see them take down a powerhouse like PTSV Hof is truly remarkable. It speaks volumes about the dedication of the athletes and their coaching staff.
Their victory certainly turned heads. Svenja Becker, Annika krüger, and lara Schurz were standout performers for Aschaffenburg. Do you see these young athletes becoming future judo stars?
Wolfgang Schmidt: without a doubt. All three women possess incredible raw talent and a hunger to win. Svenja’s throws were particularly extraordinary, while Annika’s ground game was almost unstoppable. Lara’s composure under pressure was also commendable. If they continue to train hard and refine their skills, they have the potential to become formidable competitors on the national, even international stage.
turning our attention to the men’s division, we saw a dominant performance by the Combat Community Offenbach/Frankfurt, who secured a decisive victory over TG Rimbach. Were you surprised by their dominance?
Wolfgang schmidt: Offenbach/Frankfurt has always been a force to be reckoned with. They have a strong team with a deep bench, and their tactical approach is consistently excellent. They are a well-oiled machine, and it’s no surprise they emerged victorious.
The TSV Lohr team, even though not securing a podium finish, showed promise, especially in their seventh-place match win against JC Frankfurt. what did you see in their performance that excites you for the future?
Wolfgang Schmidt: TSV Lohr has a bright future. Their young squad demonstrated incredible heart and fighting spirit. Anton Weidner, Rares Cumpanas, and Maksym Bereziuk formed a formidable team, showcasing impressive technique and tactical awareness. With continued development and experience, they will undoubtedly become worthy contenders in future tournaments.

Wolfgang Schmidt: Judo is in a healthy state in southern Germany. The TSV lohr tournament is a testament to the passion and dedication of athletes,coaches,and organizers.
