legal proceedings have been initiated to challenge the ban on away fans at the Lille OSC-Feyenoord match in Northern France. The supporters’ group De Feijenoorder, backed by the Rotterdam-based club, is leading the charge in court.
This week, local officials declared that Feyenoord supporters would not be permitted to attend the Champions League clash on January 29. De Feijenoorder has strongly opposed this decision, labeling it an “excessive restriction that infringes on the rights of football enthusiasts.”
Feyenoord has officially joined forces with its supporters’ association to file a lawsuit. They aim to secure the right for approximately 2,000 fans to travel to Lille for the match through expedited legal proceedings.
French authorities have cited concerns over potential disturbances and violence during the European fixture as the reason for the ban. De Feijenoorder emphasized, “This issue demands a unified and resolute response to protect the interests of Feyenoord supporters and to challenge the growing trend of collective punishment in football.”
