Ravenna Fight Club Kicks Off 2024 with Intense Training and Community Engagement
The Ravenna Fight Club began the new year with a flurry of activity, participating in both national and local events designed to foster martial arts excellence and community building.
From January 5th to 6th,the club’s athletes immersed themselves in the 24th edition of EuroCamp Cesenatico,a renowned initiative spearheaded by Carlo Maurizzi. This project, aligned with the “Fijlkam Sports project,” leverages martial arts as a powerful tool for social cohesion and inclusivity, particularly among pre-competitive age groups.
The opening ceremony at Cesenatico’s congress palace was graced by prominent figures in the Italian martial arts scene, including Fijlkam President Giovanni Morsiani, national team directors Laura Di Toma (Judo) and salvatore Avanzato (Wrestling), and representatives from various disciplines like Karate, Ju-Jutsu, and Fesam – Martial Arts. National team athletes Angelo Crescenzo,Mattia Busato,and Michele Ciani also lent their presence,inspiring the next generation of fighters.
Under the guidance of Vito Durante, Fight club athletes engaged in rigorous training sessions on the tatami, sparring and learning from peers representing other schools actively involved in the event’s association. This collaborative habitat fostered a spirit of camaraderie and mutual growth.
Meanwhile, on January 5th, Fight Club members Giacomo Siroli (aspiring K1 instructor), Giulia Garofalo (full contact MMA athlete), and Lucia Ballardini (K1 light contact athlete) traveled to Milan to participate in a specialized training seminar hosted by the WFC, WKAFL, WBFC, and ASI. The seminar, focusing on boxing techniques, was led by renowned coach Andrea Galbiati. This valuable experience served as crucial preparation for Giulia and Lucia,who are set to compete in the Hunter MMA event on January 19th.
Looking ahead,the Fight Club is excited to launch its new initiative,”Wonder,” on January 12th. This project, scheduled from 10 am to 12 pm, aims to empower women through workshops focused on self-defense principles and techniques.
Regular training sessions in Karate, combat Sport, and Functional Training will resume on Tuesday, providing athletes with a extensive and well-rounded training regimen.

VD: Absolutely. EuroCamp Cesenatico is a truly remarkable event. It brings together young athletes from across Italy, fostering a sense of camaraderie and igniting a passion for martial arts.This year, our athletes engaged in intense training sessions, learning from some of the best in the business and sparring with peers from different schools. It’s an invaluable experience for their development,both physically and mentally.

We strive to create a supportive environment where athletes encourage and learn from each other, fostering a strong sense of community.
Speaking of community,the ravenna Fight Club is launching a new initiative called “Wonder” focused on empowering women through self-defense workshops.Can you elaborate on this program and its goals?
VD: “Wonder” is a project close to our hearts. We want to equip women with the tools and knowledge to protect themselves. The workshops will cover a range of self-defense techniques, focusing on practical skills and situational awareness. our aim is to empower women, boosting their confidence and ensuring their safety.
This is incredibly inspiring, Coach. Your dedication to both athletic development and community empowerment is commendable. Looking ahead, what are your hopes and aspirations for the Ravenna Fight Club in the coming year?
VD: We aim to continue expanding our reach, offering diverse training programs to cater to all levels of experience. We want to produce champion athletes who compete at the highest level, while concurrently strengthening our community engagement initiatives. The launch of “wonder” is just the beginning. We envision expanding our community outreach programs, contributing to a safer and more inclusive environment for everyone.
