These documents will outline the proper registration process.
It has come to our attention that a private judo club has been promoting a tournament through the judo portal, suggesting it is a qualifying event for the Hessian Championships. we want to emphasize that this club tournament is not officially sanctioned or recognized by the Hessian Judo Association.
Registrations submitted through this unofficial channel will not be considered for participation in the official Hessian Championships or for qualification to the German Judo Federation (DJB) group championships.
While participation in the JC Petersberg competition is entirely voluntary, judokas should be aware that it does not hold official championship status.

The Official hessian Judo Championships: Separating Fact From Fiction with Coach Andreas Schmidt
Welcome back fight fans! Today we’re diving deep into the world of Hessian judo with a man who knows the sport inside and out, retired national coach Andreas Schmidt.
Andreas, thank you for joining us today. We have some critically important news regarding the upcoming Hessian Judo Championships and, frankly, some confusion swirling around it. Let’s start with the basics: can you tell our readers about the official championships?
Andreas Schmidt: Of course! The Hessian Judo Championships are the pinnacle event for young judokas in our state. This year, they’re taking place on February 8th and 9th, 2025, at the Hesse State Sports association sports hall in Frankfurt. It’s a fantastic prospect for judokas under 15, 18, and 21 to showcase their skills, compete against the best in the region, and perhaps qualify for the German Judo Federation championships.
That’s great news for aspiring champions. However, there seems to be some misinformation circulating about a separate judo tournament being promoted as a qualifying event for the Hessian Championships. Can you shed some light on that?
Andreas Schmidt: Unluckily, there’s been some misleading promotion from a private judo club suggesting their tournament acts as a qualifier. I can’t stress enough how untrue that is.The Hessian Judo Association has not sanctioned or recognized this event as a qualifier.
That’s a very serious issue. Why do you think this private club would make such a claim?
Andreas Schmidt: Honestly, I’m not sure of their intentions. It could be a misunderstanding, or perhaps they’re trying to capitalize on the excitement surrounding the Hessian Championships. whatever the reason, it’s critically important for judokas and their families to understand that only participants registered through the official channels with the Hessian Judo Association will be eligible to compete in the official championships or qualify for the DJB group championships.
This situation raises an important question about the integrity of judo competitions. What advice would you give young judokas who are unsure about which tournaments are legitimate?
Andreas Schmidt: Always double-check with the Hessian Judo Association. They are the sole authority on official competitions and qualifications.Look for official announcements, invitations, and registration details on their website or contact them directly. Don’t just rely on data from third parties or social media.
It’s a good reminder that when it comes to competitive judo, sticking to official channels is crucial. thank you for clearing up this confusion, Andreas. Your insights are invaluable to our young athletes.
Andreas Schmidt: My pleasure. I encourage all judokas to compete with integrity and always strive for excellence, both on and off the mat.
Now, we wont to hear from you, our readers!
