Teh Czech women’s ice hockey team secured a thrilling 3:1 victory over Slovakia in the semi-finals of the Universiade in Turin, Italy, setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown against Canada in Monday’s gold medal match. Denisa Habartová, Barbora Bartáková, and Alexandra Halounová were the goal scorers who propelled the team to this historic achievement.
Both the Czech Republic and Canada have maintained flawless records throughout the international university tournament. the Czech team showcased their dominance early on, defeating the USA 6:3, overwhelming Kazakhstan with an 11:1 victory, and shutting out Japan 4:0 in the group stage.
This year’s Universiade marks only the second appearance for the Czech women’s team, following their bronze medal win in Lake Placid. Now, they are poised to make history onc again as they face Canada in the final, scheduled for Monday at 20:00.
