Seven years ago, Peter Langerloos launched a modest venture on the Grote Markt in Sint-Truiden. Fast forward to today, and Hooch has become a renowned destination for beverages and cocktails. “Expansion was critical, but staying close to the grote Markt was non-negotiable. When Cucina restaurant closed its doors, it presented the perfect chance to grow our business sixfold,” Peter shares.
Seizing this opportunity, a new lease agreement was signed, leading to an extensive renovation. The space has as been reimagined into a welcoming drinks shop, cocktail bar, and restaurant.
“Our vision evolved as we worked on the project. Alongside a standout liquor store, we designed distinct seating zones where patrons can explore an array of spirits, from whisky and gin to cognac, rum, and port. A standout feature is our refrigerated wine room, where wines are served at their ideal temperature. We also curate exclusive, limited-edition beverages, including rare whiskies, catering to the refined tastes of our clientele,” Peter explains.
The ambiance is eclectic and elegant, featuring intimate private salons. The interior blends various styles, including art deco, botanical, and bohemian, creating unique atmospheres in every corner. Thoughtful touches, like a fireplace, add to the charm,” Peter adds.
The grand unveiling is set for Monday, January 20.
