badajoz Launches Innovative 3D Archery Circuit
The Diputación de Badajoz’s Culture, Sports, and Youth Department is thrilled to announce the inaugural Provincial 3D Archery Circuit, a unique competition designed with both nature conservation and unpredictable weather conditions in mind.
Kicking off on january 12th at El palenque in La Albuera, this groundbreaking circuit features homologated courses with multiple scoring zones. Archers can choose from five distinct categories based on their bow type: Compound Bow, Traditional Bow, Long Bow, Bare Bow, and Olympic recurve Bow.
With 46 archers already registered, the excitement is building. the remaining two legs of the circuit will open registration in the weeks leading up to the events: March 16th at the Casa de Campo de la Vía de la Plata in Mérida, and April 13th at the finca Municipal La Serrezuela in Don Benito. While hundreds of licensed archers are expected to participate, only those holding a valid license within the province of Badajoz will be eligible for the championship title.
Ricardo Cabezas, the Diputación’s representative, emphasized the stunning natural landscapes of the province and the growing popularity of archery as a sport. Álvaro Rosa, president of the Badajoz Ibn Marwan Club and representative of the Extremaduran Archery Federation (FEXTA), highlighted the discipline, practice, and physical coordination required for archery success. The Diputación’s collaboration with FEXTA has been instrumental in bringing this exciting circuit to life.

Diverse Categories for All Skill Levels
The circuit will feature separate male and female categories, further divided into three age groups: junior (under 17), senior (18-49), and veteran (50 and over). Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category.
Recognizing the challenges of outdoor archery during winter, the circuit will also offer the option to compete indoors, with specially designed environments that recreate the feel of a natural setting.
