Dudakova’s last victory, a dominant points decision over veteran Jinh Yu Frey at UFC 294 in abu Dhabi, showcased her resilience and determination. Remarkably, she achieved this feat while battling a persistent staph infection, a testament to her unwavering commitment to the sport.
“I’m thrilled with the win,” Dudakova shared with Sportskeeda, “but I’m relieved the fight remained standing. The infection made grappling impossible. It’s been a month-long struggle, and the pain is unbearable.”

“You didn’t even come,” she exclaimed, gesturing angrily. “You just sat there, showing no interest in me.”
The incident, while controversial, highlighted the immense pressure and emotional toll that elite-level competition can take on athletes.Despite the recent setbacks, Dudakova’s career is far from over. Her talent and tenacity are undeniable, and she remains a force to be reckoned with in the UFC’s strawweight division. Rising From the ashes: A Discussion on victoria Dudakova’s Career
Welcome back, fight fans, to another episode of “In the Octagon!” Today we have a special guest, former UFC Lightweight Champion and MMA analyst, Frankie Edgar, joining us to discuss the turbulent career trajectory of rising star Victoria Dudakova. Frankie, thanks for being here.
Frankie: Thanks for having me. Always happy to talk MMA!
Victoria Dudakova has burst onto the UFC scene, showcasing incredible talent and tenacity. She’s young, she’s hungry, and she’s already racked up eight extraordinary victories. But, as we’ve seen recently, the road to the top isn’t always smooth. Two consecutive losses, especially the tough TKO against fatima Kline, have raised some questions.
Frankie: Absolutely. Dudakova’s raw talent is undeniable. Her win over Jinh Yu Frey while battling a staph infection was truly incredible. It showed her grit and determination. But thes recent losses highlight the fine line between success and adversity in this sport.
The Kline fight, in particular, was tough to watch. Not just the stoppage itself, but Dudakova’s emotional outburst directed at her coach afterwards. Frankie, how do you see these emotional reactions impacting a fighter’s performance and career in the long run?
Frankie: I get it.Emotions run high in the heat of the moment, especially after a loss like that. it’s a natural reaction, but it’s something fighters need to learn to control. It can be a slippery slope. Publicly criticizing your coach, especially after a loss, doesn’t look good. It can erode team unity and create unnecessary distractions.
Though, Dudakova’s frustration is understandable. She likely felt abandoned during the fight, which can be incredibly demoralizing. At the highest level, having that strong coach-fighter relationship is crucial. There needs to be mutual trust and interaction.
Frankie: Exactly. It’s a two-way street. The coach needs to provide the right guidance and support, and the fighter needs to be receptive and trusting.
Looking ahead, what do you see for Dudakova? Can she bounce back from these setbacks and reach her full potential?
Frankie: I definitely think she can. Dudakova has the talent and the drive. Now, she just needs to learn from these experiences. She needs to work on her mental game, learn to manage those emotions, and rebuild the trust with her team. I believe she has what it takes to come back stronger and make a real name for herself in the UFC’s strawweight division.
