Jake: It’s incredibly exciting. The Padres have a fantastic program, and getting the chance to prove myself again at this level is an possibility I’m incredibly grateful for.
Moderator: Absolutely.2022 looked like a breakthrough season for you with the Double-A Mississippi Braves. You were finally able to string together a healthy season and showcased some serious potential on the mound. How did that experience shape your mindset heading into this new opportunity?
Jake: It definitely reinforced my belief that I can compete at this level. It was a huge confidence booster to stay healthy and put together a solid season. It showed me I’m capable of rebounding from adversity and achieving my goals.
Moderator: Speaking of adversity, your path has been anything but straightforward with injuries like the teres major tear and the latissimus injury. How have you managed to stay mentally strong throughout these challenges?
Jake: It hasn’t been easy, that’s for sure.It’s a constant battle against doubt and frustration. But I’ve always had an incredibly supportive family and friends who have kept me going.The love of the game itself is a huge motivator.
