Dominican Baseball Stars Vie for Prestigious MVP Award
The Dominican Republic’s baseball elite are gearing up for the 25th annual “Dominican Baseball Most Valuable Player” award, presented by JJ Sports. This year’s competition is fierce, with a lineup of extraordinary talent vying for the coveted title.
Among the frontrunners are New York Yankees outfielder Juan Soto,cleveland Guardians third baseman José Ramírez,and Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte. These three standouts are joined by a formidable group of contenders: Marcell Ozuna of the Atlanta Braves, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays, and Teoscar Hernández of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

A Season of Stellar Performances
each of the six nominees delivered remarkable performances during the 2024 MLB season, making the selection process even more difficult.
Soto, in 576 plate appearances, amassed 166 hits for a .288 batting average, launching 41 home runs, 31 doubles, driving in 109 runs, and crossing home plate 128 times.
Ramírez,with 620 plate appearances,recorded 173 hits for a .279 batting average, smashing 39 home runs and 39 doubles, driving in 118 runs, and scoring 114 times.
Marte, in 504 plate appearances, tallied 147 hits for a .292 batting average, hitting 36 home runs, 23 doubles, driving in 95 runs, and scoring 93 times.
Ozuna finished the season with an impressive .302 batting average, collecting 183 hits in 606 plate appearances. He belted 39 home runs, 31 doubles, scored 96 runs, and drove in 104 runs.
Guerrero Jr. showcased his offensive prowess with a .323 batting average, accumulating 199 hits in 616 plate appearances. He drove in 103 runs, scored 98 runs, and hit 30 home runs and 44 doubles.
Hernández maintained a .272 batting average, the result of 160 hits in 589 plate appearances. He launched 33 home runs, 32 doubles, drove in 99 runs, and scored 84 runs.

Host: I see your point. but don’t count out Ketel Marte. He quietly had a stellar season too, hitting for a great average and launching 36 homers.
Pedro: Marte is definitely in the conversation. His consistency is remarkable. he’s been putting up strong numbers for years now.
Host: It’s a tough choice. What about some of the other contenders like Marcell Ozuna, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Teoscar Hernández?
Pedro: You can’t forget about those guys! Ozuna is a proven run-producer, and Guerrero Jr. is just a rare talent, hitting for both power and average. Hernández has also shown he can be a force at the plate.
