Gladbach’s stöger: Ready to Rumble Against Bayern
Austrian midfielder Kevin stöger (31) is eager to make a bigger impact for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the second half of the Bundesliga season. After starting only seven of the first 15 league matches, Stöger is persistent to earn a more prominent role in the team.
he dedicated the winter break to intense training, even braving the snowy conditions in Austria to prepare for the upcoming challenges. “I’m feeling great, fit, and healthy,” Stöger stated. “I haven’t missed a single training session and I’m excited for the season to resume.”
Looking ahead, Stöger acknowledges the competitive nature of the Gladbach squad. “I knew what I was getting into when I joined,” he admitted. “I could have opted for a less demanding path with guaranteed playing time elsewhere. However, my goal is to contribute to the team’s success, and that’s why I’m here.”
Despite limited minutes, Stöger believes his contributions are evident.”my statistics, even with fewer appearances, demonstrate the value I bring to the team,” he asserted. “The club’s well-being comes first, and I’m a team player.”
With the highly anticipated clash against Bayern Munich looming on Saturday, Stöger is eager to be in the starting lineup. “It’s the biggest game at Borussia-Park, under the floodlights on a saturday evening,” he enthused. “We’re aware of our capabilities and our recent winning streak. Bayern might not relish coming to Gladbach, knowing the passionate atmosphere and our home advantage.”
Stöger’s confidence stems from Gladbach’s extraordinary home form, having dominated and secured convincing victories in recent matches.”Why can’t we defeat Bayern too?” he challenged.
This won’t be Stöger’s first encounter with the Bavarian giants. in his last bundesliga duel against Bayern, playing for VfL bochum 11 months ago, he helped orchestrate a stunning comeback victory. Bochum trailed 0:1 but ultimately triumphed 3:1, with Stöger even converting a penalty.Could this be a good omen for Saturday’s showdown? Only time will tell, but Stöger is undoubtedly ready to make his mark.

Welcome back to the Bench Side Chat, football fans! Today, we have a real treat for you. Joining us is former Austria international and current Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder, Kevin Stöger. Kevin, thanks for spending some time with us.
Kevin Stöger: It’s my pleasure. Always happy to chat about the beautiful game.
Let’s jump right in. The Bundesliga is back, and you’ve spoken about your desire for a more prominent role in the Gladbach team this year. What specifically have you done over the winter break to prepare for that challenge?
Stöger: Look, I knew coming to Gladbach that competition woudl be fierce. We have a fantastic squad here. During the break, I dedicated myself to intense training. Austria might have been covered in snow, but I was out there, pushing myself every day. it wasn’t just about physical conditioning, but also about mental sharpness. I want to be ready to contribute from the first minute if called upon.
That commitment is admirable, Kevin. You’ve also mentioned that your statistics, even with limited minutes, reflect the value you bring to the team. Can you elaborate on that? What specifically are you bringing to the pitch?
Stöger: I consider myself a well-rounded midfielder. I can dictate the tempo of the game, make those crucial interceptions, and contribute offensively as well. Even coming off the bench, I can bring a spark of energy and experience. My focus right now is to make the most of every possibility I get, whether starting or as a substitute.
Of course, everyone is looking ahead to Saturday’s clash against Bayern Munich. A major test for any Bundesliga side. You have a bit of history with Bayern, don’t you?
Stöger: You’re right. Not long ago, while playing for Bochum, we pulled off an unbelievable comeback victory against them. Trailing 1-0, we stormed back to win 3-1. I even scored a penalty in that game. It’s a memory I cherish, demonstrating that Bayern are beatable, even on their best day.
that’s a great story! Gladbach have been playing exceptionally well at home this season. Do you believe that home advantage will be crucial against Bayern?
Stöger: Without a doubt. Borussia-Park under the lights on a Saturday night is a special atmosphere. Our fans are incredible, and they really get behind the team. Bayern might be the giants, but they won’t relish coming to Gladbach. We’ve proven our capabilities recently, and we’ll be ready to give them a real battle.
Some might say that beating Bayern is a tall order for Gladbach, even at home. What’s your response to that?
Stöger: Look, nobody gives you anything for free in this league. We have to earn every point. Bayern are strong, no question, but they’re human. We’ll be prepared. we’ll have a game plan. And if we play to our full potential, with the support of our fans, I don’t see why we can’t get a result.
That’s the spirit, Kevin! thanks for your time and your insights. We’ll be watching closely on Saturday!
