meanwhile, Ogre pulled off a notable upset, defeating league leaders Keila 99-91 in a home game. The first half was closely contested, but ogre surged ahead with a decisive 16-2 run before halftime, capped off by a long-range shot from Reiņas Avotiņš. They maintained their advantage throughout the game,reaching a peak lead of 17 points after Kārlis Apsītis’s basket.
Keila mounted a late comeback in the final quarter,narrowing the gap to 70-74,but Ogre held firm to secure the victory.
Reinis Avotiņš led Ogre’s scoring with 23 points, followed by Kārlis Apsītis with 20. Kristaps mediss and Kaspars Bērziņš contributed 17 and 13 points respectively, with Bērziņš also securing seven rebounds.Vitaly Šimanskis was Keila’s top scorer with 27 points, while Eggerts Haller added 20 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Ralf Satz chipped in with 11 points and five rebounds.
These results have significantly impacted the LIBL standings. Ogre now sits in sixth place with 11 wins in 18 games, while Liepāja occupies seventh place with nine wins and eight losses. Coolbet drops to ninth with a 7-9 record,and Keila remains at the bottom with a 1-14 record in the 15-team league.
