“I had conversations with Eduardo [coach Eduardo domínguez] before everything was finalized,” Alario explained. “I also know him through mutual friends who spoke highly of him. While other possibilities arose, numerous people, including friends, spoke very positively about Estudiantes. Observing the club from the outside, I’ve been impressed by thier positive results, organization, and strong sense of belonging. My decision to join estudiantes is driven by personal reasons. I was drawn to the club’s vision and objectives.”
Alario’s last stint was with Internacional Porto Alegre in Brazil.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, which kicks off on Saturday, january 25th against Unión de Santa fe, Alario highlighted the Copa Libertadores de América as a primary goal.
“The fact that Estudiantes will be competing in the Copa Libertadores is important,” he emphasized.”It’s the most prestigious competition in South America, and it’s a privilege to have the opportunity to participate again.”
Alario expressed confidence in the team’s potential, stating, “Collectively and as an institution, we aim to take Estudiantes as far as possible in the competition. we want to compete at the highest level and achieve great things this year. With the quality of players and the coaching staff we have, I believe we have the potential to accomplish a lot. We need to prepare diligently to make that happen.”
The 32-year-old striker also acknowledged the influence of former Estudiantes players who had been his teammates.
“Agustín Rogel, who I played with recently, spoke highly of this institution, as did Gabi Mercado,” Alario shared. “I also spoke with Joaquín and Juan about it shortly after my arrival. Gabi and Agustín provided the most positive insights about Estudiantes. I’ve found everything they described to be true.
