Welcome back, sports enthusiasts! Today, we have a special guest joining us, former national tennis champion Priya Sharma.Priya, thanks for taking the time to chat with us today.
Priya: It’s my pleasure to be here.I’m always happy to talk about initiatives that promote sports and healthy living, especially in areas like Mandla district.

Priya: It’s fantastic news! Access to quality sports facilities is crucial, especially in rural areas where opportunities can be limited. This new tennis court not onyl provides a dedicated space for aspiring players in Mandla but also sends a strong message about the government’s commitment to promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle.
Moderator: I absolutely agree. Though, some argue that focusing solely on infrastructure isn’t enough. They believe that thorough sports development requires a holistic approach, including coaching programs, talent identification, and community engagement. What’s your take on that?
Priya: You’re right, infrastructure is just the starting point. We need a multi-pronged approach. Building this court is a step in the right direction, but sustained investment in qualified coaches, regular training programs, and talent scouting initiatives is essential to nurture young talent in Mandla.
moderator: Well saeid. Now, let’s shift gears a bit. The “College Chalo” campaign aims to encourage higher education, especially for young people in rural areas. Do you see a connection between education and sports development?
Priya: Absolutely! Education and sports are intertwined. Education empowers individuals, builds discipline, and develops critical thinking skills – qualities that are equally valuable on the playing field as they are in the classroom.
Moderator:
That’s a powerful statement.
Do you believe that sports participation can encourage educational pursuits, particularly for young girls in areas like Mandla district, where traditional gender roles might limit opportunities?
Priya: Absolutely. Sports can be a powerful agent of change, particularly for young girls. It teaches them teamwork, leadership, resilience, and the importance of pursuing thier goals. Participating in sports can instill confidence and open doors to new educational and career opportunities, challenging societal norms and empowering them to break down barriers.
