Speculations suggest that Marc Marquez’s refusal to join the Pramac Prima Racing team, where he was initially projected to replace Martin, influenced Ducati’s change of heart.
Marquez expressed his disinterest in moving to another satellite team, despite pramac Prima Racing offering full factory-level support, including identical bikes to those used by the factory riders.
Following Marquez’s statement, Ducati reconsidered its strategy and decided to pair Bagnaia with Marquez instead. The Bologna-based manufacturer made headlines by announcing a two-year contract with Marquez, extending until MotoGP 2026.

Though, Gigi Dall’Igna’s recent statement provides a new outlook on why Ducati opted for Marquez over Martin, affectionately known as The Baby Alien.
