During his time with the Sea dogs, Mateiko has consistently demonstrated his offensive prowess. In his debut season, he tallied an extraordinary 37 points (17 goals and 20 assists) across 67 games. The following year saw him elevate his game further, racking up 43 points (23 goals and 20 assists) in just 49 matches.This season, he’s maintained a strong pace, contributing 19 points (14 goals and 5 assists) in 23 games.

Coach Barnes: “coming from a different hockey system presents its own set of challenges. He had to adjust to a faster, more physical game, different team dynamics, and a new language and culture. Navigating those obstacles shows tremendous maturity and mental toughness. It’s impressive to see how quickly he acclimated and thrived.”
Looking ahead, what do you see as the next step in Mateiko’s progress?
Coach Barnes: “Rodinš has the potential to be a real game-changer. The next crucial step is consistency. He needs to maintain this level of performance over a full season and prove he can handle the pressure of playing against the league’s top competition night after night. If he can do that, we could be looking at a future NHL star.”
