## A New Era of Fitness for Uzbekistan’s Defenders
On January 14th, Uzbekistan celebrated Defender of the Fatherland Day with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art sports complex in the Karaulbazar district of Bukhara. [[1]] This momentous occasion saw the participation of key figures including Jurat Yakubov, Commander of the troops of the Ministry of Defense, Mayor Utkir Khamroyev, and Akbar Fozilov, Director of the Bukhara oil Refinery. The event served as a platform to extend warm wishes for the New Year and the upcoming Defender of the Fatherland Day. Speakers emphasized the complex’s potential to substantially enhance the skills and capabilities of Uzbekistan’s soldiers, fostering a new generation of highly trained, adept, courageous, and valiant defenders.
This impressive facility, funded by the Bukhara Oil Refinery at a cost of 4.87 billion UZS, boasts an array of amenities designed to cater to diverse athletic needs. Football and basketball courts, badminton and tennis facilities, long jump pits, weightlifting areas, and running tracks are just some of the features that will contribute to the physical and mental well-being of the soldiers.
Following the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, guests had the opportunity to explore the complex and familiarize themselves with its offerings. Concurrently, the second phase of the unit’s museum was inaugurated, further enriching the cultural and past landscape of the military base.
