Nogent-le-Roi Archery Club Celebrates Success and Welcomes New leadership
The Nogent-le-Roi Archery Club recently held its annual general meeting, marking a significant transition in leadership and reflecting on a accomplished season. After an extraordinary 25-year tenure, Muriel Zmudz stepped down as president, passing the torch to Ingrid Gellis, who was elected by the club’s council. Zmudz, while relinquishing the presidency, will remain an active member of the council, emphasizing the strong community spirit within the club.
The club boasts a vibrant membership of 61 archers,comprising 22 women and 39 men,with a balanced mix of 50 adults and 11 promising young archers under 18. This past season proved to be particularly fruitful, with the club participating in an impressive 53 competitions, showcasing the dedication and skill of its members. Notably, 34 archers contributed to a total of 324 individual competition entries, highlighting the club’s active participation in the archery community.
Several archers distinguished themselves with extraordinary performances. Patrick Mulet and Isabelle Champion emerged as departmental champions, demonstrating their prowess on the range. The indoor season saw Sylvie Agneray, Matthieu Marie-Élise (who also secured regional and departmental Elite category titles), and Muriel Zmudz claim departmental championship titles. Alain and Liliane Cuny further added to the club’s accolades by becoming regional and departmental champions in 3D archery.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, the club is poised for continued success. They plan to field teams in various divisions, including a women’s classical team in DR1, a pulley team in DR2, and a men’s team in DR3.
Along with its competitive aspirations, the club is committed to investing in new equipment, including bows, sights, and arrows, ensuring its members have access to the best tools for their training and competitions. Jean-Charles Valladont: Most definitely. The enthusiasm and dedication of young archers is vital for the sport’s continued growth. I’m encouraged by the numbers and hope these young talents continue to hone their skills and perhaps even represent France on the international stage someday.
