Marking its 30th anniversary, the national badminton tournament is set to take place in The Arrow (Sarthe). Over 350 participants will gather at the Monnerie sports complex on Saturday, January 18, and sunday, January 19, 2025.
A dedicated team of 80 volunteers will be on hand throughout the weekend to ensure the event runs seamlessly.
The tournament draws badminton enthusiasts from across France, with a strong portrayal from the Great West regions, including Brittany, loire, Normandy, and Center-Val de Loire.
“We’re also seeing consistent participation from clubs in the Paris area,” highlights Thibaut Sallé, vice-president of USF Badminton.
Singles Competition Kicks Off on Saturday
The opening day, Saturday, will feature men’s and women’s singles matches, along with the mixed doubles draw. Sunday’s schedule will focus on men’s and women’s doubles.
Among the top-tier players in the N2-N3 category is niels Picart from Union Sportive Créteil, who holds a spot in the federal top 300 rankings.
In the women’s division, Charlotte Linero from Club Alençonnais Badminton, ranked within the top 150, is the tournament’s top seed.
Local Talent Takes the Stage
Thibaut Sallé anticipates a highly competitive event, stating, “No player is expected to dominate easily. We’re looking forward to some thrilling, closely contested matches.”
Notably, 15 players from Fléchois will compete, with Thomas Delorme leading the charge as the highest-ranked representative for the club.
