The National Football League (NFL) has unveiled the 32 nominees vying for the prestigious 2024 Don Shula High School Coach of the Year Award. This accolade celebrates the dedication and impact of remarkable high school football coaches across the nation.
Each nominee was handpicked by their respective NFL club, a testament to their outstanding contributions to the sport and their communities. The award is a tribute to the legacy of Pro Football Hall of Famer Don Shula, renowned as the winningest coach in NFL history.Selection criteria emphasized qualities that defined Coach shula’s illustrious career: unwavering character, impeccable integrity, inspiring leadership, and a deep commitment to community involvement. Furthermore, a strong emphasis was placed on the coaches’ dedication to player safety and well-being alongside their pursuit of athletic excellence.

Today, we honour these 32 nominees for embodying the same values of integrity, commitment, and character that defined Coach Shula’s remarkable career.”
Two exceptional coaches,one from each conference (AFC and NFC),will be selected as winners. These individuals will be invited to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games in orlando, Florida, on February 2nd, where they will be recognized in a special ceremony. Throughout the week, they will enjoy VIP treatment, including premium accommodations and exclusive access to Pro Bowl practices and events. They will also have the possibility to connect with prominent figures in the football community.
Thanks to the partnership between the NFL Foundation and Nike, each winning coach will receive a $15,000 grant for their high school football program and a personal cash prize of $10,000. The remaining 30 nominees will each be awarded a $1,000 cash prize.
Adding to the honor, the two winners will be special guests at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. The Don Shula Award winners will be announced the week leading up to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games and will be celebrated at the festivities. The Pro Bowl Games will be broadcast live on ESPN, ABC, and ESPN Deportes on Sunday, February 2nd, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET.
As a crowning achievement, the Don shula Award winners will also be recognized nationally and will have the opportunity to grace the red carpet at NFL Honors, the two-hour primetime awards show, on Saturday, February 8th, at 9:00 p.m. ET on FOX.
