Málaga Archers Shine at Andalusian Indoor Championships
The CD ARCO CLUB MALAKA archers have once again shattered their own medal record at the Andalusian championships, solidifying their position as a powerhouse in the region’s archery scene.
The 2024 Andalusian Indoor Recurve adn Compound Championships, held in Chiclana (Cádiz) from January 11th to 12th, saw fierce competition among 174 athletes and 23 coaches representing 24 Andalusian clubs.Málaga province was well-represented, with the CD ARCO CLUB MALAKA fielding a strong team of 39 archers, the CD ARCOGÜI with 5, and the CLUB POLIDEPORTIVO MIJAS with 2.
MALAKA’s impressive contingent included 25 young archers in the junior categories, 9 in the senior division, and 5 dedicated coaches. Their hard work paid off, resulting in an impressive haul of 13 medals and 4 fourth-place finishes, securing them the second-best overall performance at the championships. Arcogüi also achieved success, claiming a bronze medal and a fourth-place finish.
Adding to the excitement, MATEJKA Raphael Amar, an archer from Club INDALARCO, coached by MALAKA technicians, secured a bronze medal in both the Absolute and Under 21 Compound categories.
The championships presented a unique challenge for the younger archers, who competed in both their age group and the senior category on the same day. This demanding schedule required them to showcase their skills and endurance in two separate competitions, one in the morning and another in the afternoon.
The remarkable achievements of Málaga’s archers underscore the province’s growing prominence in Andalusian archery. This success is a testament to the dedication and expertise of the athletes and coaches, as well as the impactful work of the Málaga archery School, a project initiated by Club MALAKA six years ago.
