The Oklahoma City Thunder are on fire, achieving a historic feat with their 13th consecutive victory. This remarkable run marks the longest winning streak in franchise history, surpassing their previous best set during the 2007-08 season.
Led by the phenomenal Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder dominated the Los Angeles Clippers in a decisive 116-98 victory. This remarkable streak echoes the success of the franchise’s predecessor, the Seattle SuperSonics. before relocating to Oklahoma City, the SuperSonics achieved a 14-game winning streak during the 1995-96 season. The Thunder’s turnaround in the game was nothing short of breathtaking. Trailing 52-48 at halftime, thay unleashed a dominant 20-42 run in the third quarter, effectively seizing control of the game.
Hartenstein attributed the surge to increased defensive pressure. “We weren’t playing the right way,” he admitted. “We wanted to put pressure on them, and we did it fantastically.”
The Thunder’s relentless defense has been a hallmark of their recent success. They currently lead the NBA in forced turnovers, and their suffocating defense in the third quarter against the Clippers resulted in 7 turnovers, translating into 17 points for Oklahoma City. In total, the Thunder capitalized on Clippers’ miscues for 31 points.
Standout Performances
Beyond Gilgeous-Alexander’s brilliance, other Thunder players made meaningful contributions. Jalen Williams chipped in with 18 points, while Hartenstein added 11 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks, showcasing his versatility. For the Clippers, Amir Coffey led the scoring with 26 points on an impressive 10-of-14 shooting from the field, including a scorching 6-of-8 from three-point range.
