OSM Badminton Celebrates 50 Years with Thriving Community
OSM Badminton kicked off 2025 with a resounding display of its vibrant community,hosting three exciting badminton tournaments. this year holds special significance as the club marks its 50th anniversary, a testament to its enduring appeal across generations.
The tournaments showcased badminton’s universal appeal,attracting participants of all ages. The youngest competitor, a mere five years old, participated in the family tournament, teaming up with a loved one for a fun-filled competition. The event was a resounding success, culminating in the victors sharing treats with all attendees.
Adults also flocked to the courts for the champagne tournament, where a spirited competition preceded celebratory toasts. After intense matches,the winners shared a slice of cake with fellow participants,raising a glass to the new year.
Adding to the festivities, the Badminton OldStars, a group established in October, hosted their inaugural tournament. This group, comprised of seasoned players, demonstrated that badminton is a sport for life, with the oldest participant clocking in at an extraordinary 75 years.
The overwhelming turnout at all three tournaments underscores the club’s robust health and its promising future. Following a dip during the pandemic, OSM Badminton has experienced a surge in membership, recently surpassing the 200-member milestone.

Hard work, dedication, and a love for the game are crucial, of course.But I’d also emphasize the importance of sportsmanship. Respect your opponents, appreciate the challenge, and always play fair.
