Shaquille O’Neal: Thanks for having me! Always happy to chat about family and football.
Now, Shaq, you’re a family man yourself. Four kids, right? How does having a growing family impact an athlete’s focus, especially during a crucial playoff run like Patrick’s?
Shaquille O’Neal: Listen, having kids is a blessing, there’s no doubt whatsoever about it. But it’s definitely a balancing act. I know from experience that being a dad is a full-time job in itself. It takes dedication, energy, and… well, let’s just say patience. A whole lotta patience. Now, Pat’s a young guy, full of energy, and Brittany seems like a rockstar mom. I think they’ve got a good system going.
And let’s be real, having a newborn during a bye week? That’s prime timing. Almost like the football gods were looking out for Mahomes. Think the Chiefs will use this extra family time to their advantage?
Shaquille O’Neal: Absolutely! Having that support system at home, especially wiht a new addition, can be a huge motivator. When you know your family is happy and settled, you can focus on your game. Plus, seeing that little girl’s face after a big win? that’s pure joy, man. Gotta love that.
you’ve spoken before about how important family was in your own career. How does that experience inform your view on Pat’s situation?
Shaquille O’Neal: Family always came first for me. My kids were my everything. It’s the same for Pat. Brittany’s been by his side through thick and thin. it’s a true partnership, and that’s what makes them so unstoppable as a couple and as parents. It takes a village, as they say!
Now, we know Pat’s mentioned wanting to add more kids to the roster. Think he can handle four kids while chasing Lombardi trophies?
Shaquille O’Neal: (Laughs) Four kids? Man, that’s a full squad! Look, I’m not gonna lie, it gets harder as they get older. Four might potentially be pushing it with a demanding career like his. But hey, if anyone can pull it off, it’s Patrick Mahomes.
What advice would you give to Pat as he navigates parenthood and a demanding career?
Shaquille O’Neal: Enjoy every minute, Pat. kids grow up fast. Cherish those moments, even the messy ones. And remember, family is everything. It’s your anchor in the crazy world of sports.
