The Puerto Rico Baseball Federation (FBPR) is buzzing with anticipation for the upcoming 2025 Double A Superior Baseball League season. A surge of new talent is poised to shake things up, with the FBPR receiving an notable 100 applications from fresh faces eager to make their mark.
Adding to the excitement, over 700 players from the Double A youth Baseball League will be eligible for the New Player Draw, scheduled for January 19th. This influx of young talent promises to inject fresh energy and competition into the league.
Among the notable newcomers are several players with experience in professional leagues. Pitchers Gabriel Rodríguez, Harold Cortijo, and Bryant Salgado, all veterans of Minor League Baseball (MiLB), bring a wealth of experience to the table. Angel Lebron, who honed his skills in an independent US league, adds further depth to the pitching pool.The position players are equally impressive. josé Sermo, Yan Contreras, Ryan Cepero, and Deivy Castillo are names to watch, while first baseman Yazy Arbelo, a representative of Puerto Rico in the 2015 Premier12 tournament, brings international experience to the field.
The Double A Youth group boasts its own share of rising stars. Rafael Acosta, the national leader in victories during the 2024-25 season with a remarkable 7-1 record for the Cardenales de Lajas, is a standout pitcher.
