Ranchi Gears Up for a sporting Extravaganza
Ranchi is transforming into a hub for young athletes as it prepares to host a series of prestigious sporting events. The city is abuzz with anticipation for the National School Games,set to commence on January 5th,and the Women’s Hockey India League (HIL),kicking off on January 12th.
This marks a important return for Ranchi, which last hosted thes events seven years ago. The National School Games,organized by the School Games Federation of India (SGFI),will feature four thrilling competitions: Under-19 athletics (January 5-8),Under-14 Athletics (January 11-14),Under-19 Tennis (January 17-19),and Under-14 Track Cycling (January 17-20).
Teams from across the nation, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Assam, andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry, are expected to descend upon Ranchi. The excitement is palpable as athletes from the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) have already arrived, eager to compete at the Birsa Munda Stadium in Morhabadi.
To ensure a smooth and successful event, the organizing committee has meticulously planned every detail. Accommodation arrangements have been made for the athletes, with boys staying in hotels and girls housed in the Jharkhand Technical University and JCERT flats.
Recognizing the importance of athlete well-being, a dedicated medical team will be on standby 24/7, working in two shifts. Female medical personnel will be stationed at the JUT and JCERT facilities. A state-level control room has been activated to address any issues that may arise, providing a direct line of interaction for teams and officials.
Shashi Ranjan, State Education project Director, emphasized the commitment to rewarding the hard work of the committee members who contribute to the success of these events.he stressed the importance of providing extraordinary accommodation, registration, and healthcare facilities for the athletes, promising swift action against any negligence.
Meanwhile, preparations for the Women’s HIL are in full swing at the Astroturf Stadium in Morabadi. Hockey India and Hockey Jharkhand are working tirelessly to ensure the venue is ready to welcome the nation’s top female hockey players. The grounds are being meticulously cleaned, and the dressing rooms and spectator stands are being prepared.
Teams are scheduled to arrive in Ranchi from January 4th onwards, with the Shrachi Radh Bengal Tigers leading the way. The Odisha Warriors will follow on January 6th, while the Delhi SG Pipers and Surma Hockey Club are expected on January 9th.
