## Aresan Tennis Club Hosts Thriving Christmas Tournament
The Aresan Tennis Club buzzed with activity as over 120 participants competed in the 53rd annual Christmas Network Tournament. This year’s event was especially special, marking the debut of the club’s newly renovated courts. While final touches like non-slip painting are still underway, the two new surfaces were ready for action, adding too the excitement of the tournament. [[1]]
Paula Garcia emerged victorious in the women’s absolute category, defeating Maria Sicre in a hard-fought match. Sicre, a familiar face in the Aresan finals, also secured victory in the +40 category, showcasing her extraordinary skills. The men’s absolute final, scheduled for late afternoon, promised another thrilling showdown between Jesus Santomil and Sergio Lopez. [[2]]
The tournament showcased a diverse range of talent, with young players like Pablo Modroño and Diego Becerra, both hailing from A Coruña, battling it out in a captivating “super tie break” match. The Aresan finals saw a string of impressive victories, with Laura Alvarez dominating the women’s team competition and Mario Castro emerging triumphant in the children’s category. Luis Terradillos and Laura Lopez secured victory in the junior division, while Gustavo Álvarez and manuel Torrecilla claimed the +55 and absolute non-federated titles.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the Redense club also hosted the 16th edition of its padel tournament. The men’s final saw Pablo García and Juan Sánchez triumph over Esteban Allegue and Simón Fustes in a thrilling three-set match.Beyond the competitive spirit, the tournament fostered a strong sense of community. Maria Sicre: Oh, they’re fantastic! New surfaces can definitely give players a boost. The club always strived for excellence, and these renovations are a testament to that commitment.it adds a fresh energy to the atmosphere, both for the players and the spectators.
Moderator: And speaking of energy, you yourself have quite a history of bringing that to Aresan’s courts. You snagged victory in the women’s +40 category this year, and I must say, it was a highly competitive match. What goes through your mind in those crucial moments, when every point counts?
Maria Sicre: It’s all about staying focused, really. You have to trust your training, rely on your experience, and maintain that fighting spirit.Of course,there’s also a bit of adrenaline rush,especially in close matches. That’s part of the thrill of the game.
