His career began in 2006/07 with Iseo in Serie B Dilettanti, where he honed his skills over two seasons. A standout 2009/10 campaign saw him average 11 points, 2.93 rebounds, and 1.52 assists, numbers he maintained the following year in Serie A Dilettanti with Riva.
His talent earned him a spot in LegaDue with brescia,where he spent two seasons. Following a return to Serie B with Montichiari (2013/14 and 2014/15),Scanzi continued to impress,averaging 12.39 points, 4.22 rebounds, and 1.54 assists in his first season and 9.3 points, 4.11 rebounds, and 2.33 assists in his second.
Scanzi’s career trajectory includes notable achievements with Orzinuovi and Milan, where he secured consecutive promotions in the second national series. Andrea Scanzi: “Thank you for having me.it’s a fantastic feeling to be back in Fabriano. this club holds a special place in my heart. The fans are incredible, the institution is top-notch, and I have great memories from my time here previously. When the prospect arose to return, it was a fairly easy decision.Fabriano feels like home.”

What would you say has been the key to your longevity and success?
Andrea Scanzi: “Hard work,dedication,and a genuine love for the game are basic. I always strive to improve, to learn something new every day. I’ve been fortunate to play on some great teams with fantastic coaches and teammates, and I believe that learning from others is essential. It’s also about adapting my game, recognizing my strengths, and constantly working on areas that need betterment. You can’t stand still in this sport.”
Your time with Fabriano in 2020/21 was particularly special, culminating in a promotion to Serie A2 – your third career promotion. Can you share some of your fondest memories from that season? What made that team so special?
Andrea Scanzi: Ah, that season was truly something else! The chemistry within the team was incredible. We fought for every possession, we supported each other through thick and thin, and we had this unwavering belief that we could achieve something special. The fans were amazing, creating an electric atmosphere every game. The celebrations after securing promotion were unforgettable; it was a truly collective effort.
Andrea, with your wealth of experience, what advice would you offer to young aspiring basketball players aiming to make it professionally?
Andrea Scanzi:
“First and foremost, never lose your passion for the game. Enjoy the process of developing your skills, embrace the challenges, and always be hungry to learn. Hard work, discipline, and resilience are essential traits. Surrounding yourself with supportive teammates, coaches, and mentors who believe in you can make all the difference.
And never stop dreaming big. If you truly believe in yourself and put in the effort, anything is possible.”
