But you’re right, offensively, he seemed out of sync. Memphis did a good job of forcing him into tough shots and disrupting his rhythm. He’s a young player facing seasoned NBA defenders, so that’s to be expected.
It was unfeasible to ignore Ja Morant soaring over Wembanyama on that highlight dunk.
SK: (chuckles) Yeah, that was a moment, wasn’t it? Look, Ja is incredibly explosive and creative.That play showcased the kind of athleticism Wembanyama will face nightly in the NBA. It’s a learning curve, but I have no doubt he’ll adapt and learn from these experiences.

SK: I think it’s important to be patient. Just because he’s 7’4″ doesn’t mean he needs to be a post-up dominant scorer. He’s a skilled player who can shoot, pass, and handle the ball.San Antonio needs to find the right system that utilizes those versatile abilities, and that takes time.
We also can’t overlook the emergence of Stephon Castle. His 26 points were key for the Spurs.
SK: Exactly. Building chemistry and finding complementary pieces is crucial. castle showed real scoring ability. He could develop into a valuable wing for San antonio, taking some pressure off Wembanyama and opening up the floor.
