The Castilla-La Mancha Archery Championship, held in Torrijos this past weekend, saw notable performances from Tarancón’s archery team. The event drew top archers from across the region, competing in various categories for both men and women.
Tarancón’s archery school, led by José María Párraga Villanueva, showcased its burgeoning talent, securing multiple podium finishes. Celia Hontana Olivas dominated the female junior category, claiming the championship title. Ainara Bermejo Jiménez also represented Tarancón well, securing third place in the same category.
The male junior category saw Arturo González Villalvilla emerge victorious, further solidifying Tarancón’s dominance in the competition.

The school’s success at the Castilla-La Mancha Championship highlights the dedication and skill of its archers and coaches, solidifying Tarancón’s position as a force to be reckoned with in the regional archery scene.

Miguel: It’s a pleasure to be here. I’m always eager to talk about the sport I love.
Host: Perfect! As you know, we’re focusing on the recent Castilla-La Mancha archery Championship in Torrijos. Tarancón’s team absolutely dominated the junior categories, and I want to get your take on these rising stars. Celia Hontana Olivas claimed the female junior title, and Arturo González Villalvilla took the men’s title. That’s pretty remarkable for any archery school, let alone one with limited resources due to those renovations at their home pavilion.
Miguel: It’s truly remarkable what tarancón’s team has achieved. These young archers demonstrate incredible talent and dedication. Winning against top archers from across the region shows they’re not just good; they’re exceptional. It also speaks volumes about their coach, José maría Párraga villanueva. Leading by example, he himself secured a third-place finish!
Host: You’ve always emphasized the importance of strong coaching. Do you think José María’s success as an archer himself plays a critically important role in his ability to mentor these young talents?
Miguel: absolutely! I firmly believe that coaches who have competed at a high level possess a unique understanding of the mental and physical demands of the sport. They can relate to their students’ challenges and offer invaluable guidance based on their own experiences.
Host: That’s a great point. Now,let’s turn to the senior categories. Gonzalo Gismero García placed eighth in the senior customary bow category. Do you think that’s a respectable result, given the dominance of recurve bows in modern archery?
miguel: It’s definitely a commendable achievement. The conventional bow requires extraordinary precision and technique. To place in the top ten against predominantly recurve archers speaks to Gonzalo’s skill and dedication to a truly challenging discipline.
Host: Miguel, Tarancón’s team seems poised to make a bigger splash on the national stage. What advice would you give these young archers as they continue to develop their skills?
Miguel: Embrace the journey! Archery is a sport that demands patience, perseverance, and a love for the challenge. Enjoy the process of learning, continuously refine your technique, and never shy away from competition.
