The Jean-Touzé hall in Theix-Noyalo recently hosted a thrilling weekend of badminton as the Morbihan Badminton Championship unfolded. Over 150 young athletes, ranging from the youngest “poussins” to junior players, battled it out for the coveted title.Saturday saw fierce competition in singles and mixed doubles, while Sunday’s focus shifted to doubles matches. Jérôme cabioch, president of the Theix-Noyalo Badminton Club (BCTN), praised the event, noting the exceptional sportsmanship displayed by all participants. He also highlighted the positive feedback received regarding the hall’s suitability for the championship, a testament to the efforts of the Theix-Noyalo municipal services who prepared the venue.
The BCTN itself is experiencing a surge in popularity, with membership soaring past 200 this year, a notable increase from last year’s 160 members.
The club’s success was evident at the championship, particularly in the cadet category. Alexis Cabioch emerged victorious in the singles, defeating his fellow club member Lucas Coilier. The dynamic duo then dominated the doubles competition the following day, securing thier place in the Bretagne Badminton Championship.
Adding to his remarkable performance, Alexis Cabioch, partnered with Alréenne Angélique Sucher, clinched the mixed doubles title, further solidifying the BCTN’s dominance at the event.

Moderator: Your victory in the cadet singles category was particularly impressive, defeating your clubmate Lucas Coilier in a thrilling final. Can you walk us through that match? Given how well you both performed throughout the tournament,you must have been pushing each other hard.
Alexis: It was definitely a tight match! Lucas is a very strong player, and we know each other’s game inside and out. It came down to the wire, but I managed to pull through in the end.
Moderator: And how excited are you and Lucas to represent theix-Noyalo Badminton Club at the Bretagne Badminton Championship? This is a significant step up in competition.
Alexis: We’re feeling really confident and motivated. The Morbihan Championship was fantastic readiness, and we know we can learn a lot by competing against the best players from Bretagne.

What do you attribute this success to?
Alexis: I think it comes down to a combination of factors. Our coaches are incredibly dedicated and create a positive, supportive environment for everyone. The club is also very welcoming to new members, nonetheless of their level.

Alexis: Angelique’s an amazing player, and we have great chemistry on the court. We communicate well and strategize effectively.
Moderator: It sounds like you have a bright future ahead of you, Alexis.What are your goals for the coming year? Do you see yourself competing at a national level soon?
Alexis: That’s definitely a dream of mine. For now,my focus is on improving my skills,gaining experience in tournaments,and making the most of opportunities to learn from experienced players.
