The Arcieri Bizantini: A Year of Triumphs Culminates in Faenza
The Arcieri Bizantini archery team concluded a remarkable year with a resounding performance at the prestigious “53° Torneo Città di Faenza” held on December 7th and 8th. This final competition added another 10 individual podium finishes and two team victories to their already remarkable 2024 season.
The team’s exceptional achievements were recognized at the ”Sport Valore Comune” awards ceremony,which celebrated the outstanding sporting talents of Ravenna. Among the 148 athletes and 20 teams honored,the Arcieri Bizantini stood out,with Matelda Miolo,the reigning Italian Indoor Champion (An Jf,18m),and Marcello Tozzola,the Italian Vice-Champion in the Outdoor 70m Target (Ol Mm),receiving accolades. The team of Massimo Venturi, Simone Pizzi, and Marcello Tozzola was also recognized for their impressive third-place finish at the Italian Indoor championships.
The Faenza tournament witnessed a dominant display by the Arcieri Bizantini. Marcello Tozzola secured the gold medal in the Ol Mm category with an impressive 565 points (285+280), while Simone Pizzi claimed the bronze with 534 points (270+267). Sofia Fuschini added to the team’s success with a silver medal in the Ol Sf category, achieving 534 points (263+271).
In the Olympic Recurve Men’s category, Nicola Barlotti secured the gold medal with 481 points (239+242), while Diego Dalla Costa clinched the bronze with 408 points (199+209), setting a new personal best. Nicole Morrongiello finished fifth with 429 points (212+217), and Elena Bertazzini placed sixth with 326 points (188+138). Felipe Ernesto Castro Ramirez achieved an eighth-place finish with 325 points in the Ol Am category.
Marcello Tozzola continued his winning streak in the AN category, securing the gold medal with 536 points (265+271) and setting a new personal and team record. Massimo Venturi earned the bronze medal with 509 points (253+256), while Simone Pizzi finished fourth with 505 points (251+254). The trio of Tozzola, Venturi, and Pizzi clinched the gold medal with a combined score of 1550 points, moving up one position in the national ranking.
Michele Baroncini continued his impressive form, securing another podium finish since October 2023, where he has consistently placed among the top three. This time,he claimed the gold medal in the An Sm category with 524 points (258+266). Matelda Miolo delivered a strong performance in the An Sf category, earning the bronze medal with 515 points (259+256) and setting a new personal best. This score placed her second in the regional ranking and 13th in the national ranking for qualification to the Italian Championships.
Matelda Miolo, alongside Sabrina Bandini (4th place with 481 points) and Donatella domini (6th place with 443 points), secured the gold medal in the team event with a combined score of 1439. Angela Padovani rounded out the team’s success with a bronze medal in the Mf category, achieving 466 points (225+241).
