This iconic indoor archery competition kicked off today with the first three sessions of the ranking round, setting the stage for the final group of athletes to complete the qualification phase tomorrow morning.
In the women’s recurve category, Elisabetta mijno delivered an outstanding performance, securing the provisional lead with 593 points (out of 60 arrows). This remarkable achievement not only improves her Paralympic world record by three points but also brings her tantalizingly close to the European (594) and world (595) absolute records. Mijno recently stunned the archery community with a score of 595 at the Regional Championships in Cantalupa, Piemonte, though it couldn’t be officially recognized internationally.
The five-time Paralympic medalist currently holds a narrow one-point lead over France’s Victoria Sebastian,while the rest of the field trails by double digits. American archer Casey Kaufhold sits in third place with 581 points.
