Lucilla: It’s been a long and challenging journey, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. My passion for the sport fueled me from the very beginning. but, honestly, it wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of my coaches, mentors, family, and friends. They believed in me even when I doubted myself.
Interviewer: Your Olympic success cemented your place as a role model for aspiring archers. You join us today not just as a champion but also as a freshly elected advocate for your fellow athletes within the federation. Considering the federation’s roles in shaping the future of Italian Archery,what are some key areas you’ll be focusing on in your new role?
Lucilla: My heart is truly in ensuring the well-being and advancement of all archers,especially younger athletes. I believe in fostering a welcoming and supportive environment where every individual, regardless of their experience level, has the opportunity to thrive. This means advocating for better training resources, accessible coaching, and increased participation opportunities at all levels.
Interviewer: It’s exciting to see such pointed emphasis on fostering inclusion and growth within the sport. Italian archery is experiencing a surge in popularity, with over 100,000 registered archers. How do you see the federation navigating this growth while ensuring its core values and infrastructure remain strong?
Lucilla: It’s a fantastic time for archery in Italy, but with growth comes duty.We need to ensure we have the infrastructure and resources in place to support this growing community. This means investing in facilities, nurturing coach progress programs, and ensuring fair and transparent competition structures that benefit archers at all levels.
Interviewer: There’s there’s no doubt whatsoever that your understanding of the sport both on and off the field will be crucial in your new role.Looking ahead,what are your hopes for the future of Italian archery,and what message would you give to aspiring archers on the cusp of beginning their own journeys in the sport?
Lucilla: My hope is to see Italian archery continue to flourish.I envision a future where our athletes are consistently competing at the highest level internationally, but also where the sport remains accessible and enjoyable for everyone. To aspiring archers, I would say: never give up on your dreams.
