ASD Arcieri Langhe e Roero Triumphs at the 8th “Trofeo della Befana”
The 8th edition of the “Trofeo della Befana,” a prestigious interregional archery competition, took place last weekend at the Priocca gymnasium. Thirty archery clubs participated, including renowned teams like Fiamme Azzurre, Fiamme Oro, adn Aeronautica Militare, showcasing top-tier athletes such as Alessandro Paoli, Marco Bruno, Chiara Rebagliati, and Marco Morello. This tournament is a key event in the Italian Archery Federation‘s calendar,contested at the challenging 18-meter indoor distance. [1]
The local club, ASD Arcieri Langhe e Roero, led by president Monica Mina, achieved remarkable success. In the team rankings for the Compound Bow discipline, their junior female team secured a resounding first place. Elisabetta Messina, Emma Dutto, and Lucia Manfredi, all homegrown talents, dominated the podium. [1]
The competition’s high caliber was evident across all categories. Christian Messina emerged victorious in the Compound Bow, Allievi male category, while Paolo Dutto secured a respectable 9th place in the Master male category. [1]
In the Olympic Bow discipline, Silvia Gozzellino achieved an notable 5th place overall in the Master female category.Christian Valsania secured a commendable 3rd place in the Junior male category, and Lorenzo Depetris placed 20th in the Master male category. [1]
The Bare Bow category also saw strong performances from ASD Arcieri langhe e roero athletes. Barbara Sandron achieved a 6th place finish, while Fabrizio Boffa and Maurizio Giubellino placed 9th and 11th respectively in the Master category. Giovanni Palmieri narrowly missed the podium, finishing 4th in the Senior male category. [1]
The young archers of ASD Arcieri Langhe e Roero will be back in action next weekend, January 11-12, competing in the 2025 regional indoor Championship in Cantalupa (TO). [1]

Marco Bruno: Definitely intense! It’s always inspiring to compete alongside the best. Everyone brings their A-game, pushing you to perform at your peak.The energy in the gymnasium was electric, and you could feel the passion for the sport in every arrow shot.
ASD Arcieri Langhe e Roero, the local club, had a fantastic showing, especially their junior female team who secured first place in the Compound Bow discipline. What are your thoughts on the club’s performance, especially their young talent?
Marco Bruno:
I’m incredibly impressed with ASD Arcieri Langhe e Roero’s success. Developing young talent is crucial for the future of any sport, and this club clearly has a strong program in place. Elisabetta Messina, Emma Dutto, and Lucia Manfredi – those are names to remember. I have no doubt we will be seeing them on the international stage soon.
While it was a successful weekend for many, the “Trofeo della Befana” is just the beginning of the competitive season. What are your personal goals and aspirations for the rest of the year?
Marco Bruno: My sights are set on the World Archery Championships. It’s a pinnacle event, and representing Italy on that stage is a dream. I’m dedicated to putting in the hard work and refining my technique to have the best chance of success.
