Germany’s U15 Badminton Talent Takes Flight
The year kicked off with a bang for Germany’s burgeoning U15 badminton scene. A preparatory training camp, part of the U15 network Germany initiative, brought together 27 promising young athletes at the German Badminton Center in Mülheim an der Ruhr from January 2nd to 5th.
This marks the second year of the DBV’s (german Badminton Association) commitment to nurturing young talent through these specialized U15 training camps. ”Our goal is to provide as many gifted players as possible with the possibility to learn and grow within the U15 Network Germany, taking valuable insights back to their home clubs,” explains Matthias Hütten, U15 Coordinator. “We’re thrilled that ten regional associations responded enthusiastically, sending their top players. A huge thank you also goes out to the dedicated coaching team who simultaneously prepared these athletes for the upcoming U15 season highlight.”
The crème de la crème of U15 badminton players from eight nations will converge in Uppsala, Sweden, from February 20th to 23rd for the prestigious 8-Nations U15 tournament.
Adding another layer of expertise to the camp was Jan Eisenbraun from the Institute of Applied Training Science (IAT) Leipzig. He provided valuable feedback on the athletes’ physical conditioning and led a workshop on injury prevention, emphasizing strategies for lasting long-term athletic growth.
“It was a demanding but highly productive start to the year, serving as excellent readiness for the upcoming 8-Nations U15 tournament,” reflects Benjamin Tzschoppe, the camp’s head coach. “I believe many players gained valuable takeaways for their individual training regimens. I’m optimistic about a accomplished year ahead for our U15 team!”
The momentum continues with a second U15 training camp scheduled from February 28th to march 2nd at the Federal Training Center in Hamburg.
