In Tampico, students can choose from a wide array of activities, including fitness training, boxing, yoga, Zumba, Pilates, kickboxing, step aerobics, breathing exercises, drum fit, stretching, toning workouts, spinning, karate do, and salsa dancing.
Nuevo Laredo’s gymnasium offers a blend of combat sports, racquet sports, and mind-body practices. Participants can explore disciplines like combat training, squash, tai chi, aerial dance, step aerobics, Zumba, full-body conditioning, spinning, and more.
The reynosa campus encourages team spirit and athleticism with offerings like Zumba, basic Pilates, volleyball, basketball, American football, Tochito flag football, baseball, karate, and softball.Simultaneously occurring, the Matamoros gymnasium focuses on cardiovascular fitness and flexibility with indoor cycling, advanced and basic step aerobics, cycling, and yoga classes.
“Yo Soy Correcaminos”: Fostering Teamwork and Competition
Beyond the multidisciplinary gymnasiums, UAT’s Liaison Secretariat sponsors the “Yo Soy Correcaminos” program, specifically designed for the student community in Ciudad Victoria. This initiative aims to cultivate a passion for sports, promote teamwork, and encourage healthy competition.
The program offers a comprehensive range of sports, including men’s and women’s soccer, fencing, karate do, men’s and women’s basketball, judo, taekwondo, men’s and women’s volleyball, softball, athletics, cross country, tochito flag football, chess, weightlifting, and tennis.

Coach Ramirez: I’m incredibly impressed with the diversity of activities UAT provides. from high-intensity workouts like boxing and CrossFit to mind-body practices like tai chi and yoga, there’s truly something for everyone, regardless of their fitness level or interests. The variety is fantastic.

Coach ramirez: “Yo Soy Correcaminos” is a fantastic initiative. It not only encourages physical activity but also teaches valuable life skills like discipline, dedication, and teamwork. I’ve seen firsthand how participating in team sports can build confidence, leadership skills, and lasting friendships.

Coach Ramirez: While I agree that specialization can be valuable, UAT’s focus on a wide range of activities allows students to explore different disciplines and discover hidden talents or passions. This exposure to diverse options is invaluable, especially for young people still finding their footing in the world of sports.
That’s an excellent point! It’s about exploration and self-discovery. looking forward, what advice would you give to incoming UAT students eager to embrace the athletic opportunities available?
Coach Ramirez: My advice is simple: Be bold, be curious, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Explore the different classes and programs offered. Talk to coaches and fellow students. You might just surprise yourself and discover a new passion!
