Van Aert Poised for Victory in Dendermonde Cyclo-Cross

Sven: Thanks for having me! Always a pleasure to talk cyclocross.

Sven: Well, Van der Poel’s absence is definitely a game-changer. He’s a fierce competitor, and his rivalry with Van Aert has been captivating the sport for years. It’s unfortunate that he’s injured, but that’s the nature of cyclocross – it’s a physically demanding discipline. Now, I wouldn’t say Van Aert has an automatic win.
Moderator: Really?
Sven: Absolutely! Other riders will sense an opportunity and step up their game. We’ve seen surprises in cyclocross before. But it’s undeniable that Van Aert is the clear favorite. He’s been in phenomenal form this season.
Moderator: He certainly has been, dominating many of the early races.
Sven: Exactly. He’s strong, technically gifted, and mentally tough. If he can avoid any major mishaps, he’s got this race in the bag.
Moderator: Do you think this string of early victories –Van Aert’s, I mean – could perhaps put pressure on him as the season progresses?
Sven: It’s possible. Pressure is a funny thing. It can push you to greater heights, or it can weigh you down. Van Aert seems to thrive under pressure, but it’ll be fascinating to see how he handles the expectations as the season heats up.
Moderator: the Dendermonde course is known for its technical challenges and muddy conditions. How do you see those factors impacting the race this year?
Sven: Dendermonde always throws up a good challenge, that’s for sure! It’s a true test of skill and stamina. The mud will add another layer of complexity. Expect to see some exciting battles and maybe even a few spills!

Sven: Keep an eye on Toon Aerts and Lars van der Haar. They could be the ones to threaten Van Aert. But ultimately, I think Wout will take home the victory in Dendermonde this year.
