Earlier today, police conducted a sweep of the Foro italico area, uncovering a cache of weapons and perilous objects concealed by ultras from both teams.The seized items included clubs, sticks, knives, bladed rods, and even flares and firecrackers. This discovery underscores the heightened tension surrounding the derby and the potential for clashes between rival supporters.
to counter this threat, approximately 2,000 law enforcement personnel, including Carabinieri and State Police, have been deployed to the Foro Italico. Their mission is to maintain order,prevent incidents,and ensure the smooth flow of fans into the stadium.
Around 300 ultras, many disguised and wearing helmets, have been placed under surveillance. Stadium gates are scheduled to open at 6:00 pm, with fans directed to separate entrances based on their team affiliation.
Along with the weapons seizure,police also apprehended an individual carrying a screwdriver and issued an urban DASPO (ban on entering specific areas) to another fan.

Bans,arrests,even life bans from stadiums are necessary to send a clear message that this behavior will not be tolerated.”
The fact that the derby has become so volatile raises questions about the role of the clubs themselves. Do you think they are doing enough to curb the behaviour of their ultras, or is there more they could be doing?
Francesco: “Both Roma and Lazio need to take more responsibility. It’s not enough to simply condemn violence after it happens. They need to be proactive and take a strong stance against this behaviour.”
