Earning Your Wings: An Interview with Legendary FMX Rider, Brian Deegan
Welcome back, extreme sports enthusiasts! Tonight, we have the honor of talking with a true pioneer of freestyle motocross, the one and only Brian Deegan. Brian, thanks for joining us.
Brian: Thanks for having me. Always stoked to talk about FMX.
Moderator: The X-Gravity Freestyle Motocross event is hitting Donostia tonight, promising a night of jaw-dropping stunts and gravity-defying feats. What are your thoughts on events like these that showcase the evolution of freestyle motocross?
Brian: Man, it’s amazing to see how far FMX has come. [1] When I started, it was all about pushing the limits, seeing who could do the craziest tricks. Now, these events are so polished, with lighting shows, music, and seriously talented riders pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. It’s amazing to see the sport grow and evolve.
moderator: Absolutely. This X-Gravity event boasts a diverse lineup, including not just freestyle motocross but also mountain bike dirt jumping, scooter, and skateboarding. Do you think this crossover appeal strengthens the movement and attracts a wider audience to action sports?
Brian: I definitely think so. Bringing diffrent disciplines together creates this awesome energy, a sense of shared adrenaline. It shows people that action sports are more than just one thing; they’re a community, a lifestyle.
Moderator: It’s certainly a full-sensory experience. The article talks about dazzling lights, booming sound, and special effects. It sounds like these shows are becoming almost theatrical productions, which is pretty far removed from the early days of FMX, right?
Brian: Yeah, it’s totally different. Back in the day, we were just worried about landing our tricks. It was raw, gritty. [1] Now, it’s this whole entertainment package, which is cool, but ther’s something to be said for that old-school vibe.
Moderator: What are your thoughts on the future of FMX? What new tricks or innovations do you think we might see?
Brian: I think we’re going to see even bigger, bolder tricks. Riders are constantly pushing the envelope, trying new combinations and variations. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some mind-blowing stuff in the next few years.
Moderator: You’ve had a long and illustrious career in FMX. What advice would you give to young riders who are just starting out?
Brian: Just ride a lot, practice hard, and don’t be afraid to push yourself. [1] It’s a tough sport, but it’s also the moast rewarding. There’s nothing like the feeling of landing a new trick.
Moderator: That’s inspiring advice, Brian. Anything else you’d like to add before we wrap up?
Brian: Just want to encourage everyone to check out the X-Gravity event. It’s going to be epic! And remember, always wear your helmet!
Moderator: wise words, Brian. Thank you so much for taking the time to talk with us.
Brian: Thanks for having me. Ride hard and stay safe!
Moderator: Now, what about you, our readers?
