A Young Fan’s Disappointment Turns into a Dream Come True
Ten-year-old Jeanna,a passionate NAC supporter and aspiring footballer for amateur club Groen Wit,found herself the target of an online scam. A man posing as a player’s agent contacted her through social media platforms like Facebook and whatsapp, promising a signed shirt and a meet-and-greet with an NAC player after a match against Sparta Rotterdam.Despite Jeanna’s father’s attempts too verify the agent’s legitimacy through phone calls, the promises proved to be empty. The family, realizing they had been deceived, reached out to NAC to report the incident and filed a formal complaint against the scammer.
While NAC couldn’t directly address the scammer’s actions, the club was steadfast to make amends for the young fan’s disappointment. Last Sunday, Jeanna and her father were invited behind the scenes at NAC’s stadium for an unforgettable experience.
The highlight of the day was meeting NAC captain Jan van den Bergh, who presented Jeanna with his signed match shirt. Jeanna also received a tour of the stadium, witnessed the team’s warm-up session from the field, and enjoyed the NAC match against Heerenveen from the press stand.
“It’s a small gesture to bring her joy,” van den Bergh remarked, emphasizing the importance of NAC’s proactive response in supporting young fans and raising awareness about online scams targeting vulnerable individuals.
